Learning to trust God is a freeing experience. When we no longer have to shoulder the burden of our circumstances, and we realize that our loving God is in control ... when we let go and let God be God ... weights crumble that we were never meant to carry and we become FREE!
God wants to heal us so we can be whole and complete. He wants us to live in the abundance of life that He purchased for us on the cross. Until our hearts are restored, we are unable to leave the past behind. Our open wounds keep us tethered to the past. But God's love has the power to heal our hearts. We are entering a new season of trust in God, where our lives are surrendered and we press on towards our heavenly prize. May God's grace open our hearts to His healing power so we can embrace EVERYTHING God has designed and created for us.
The journey of trusting God is a fantastic adventure. He gives us joy and strength to overcome and walk in great victory!!!
Our speaker Shelly Lindahl is the director of Shelter, a Christ-centered support group for women who have been sexually abused or assaulted, at Watermark Community Church in Dallas, Texas. As a survivor of emotional, physical, and sexual abuse/assault, Shelly personally understands the devastation that results from trauma and loss. She draws on her own personal experiences and years of recovery as she leads women from the darkness of past abuse and trauma to the light of restoration and freedom in Christ. Shelly's work with her church has also included leading trauma healing conferences in central Africa, including Congo, the rape capital of the world. She is currently heading up a team of women to write a Biblically based curriculum for women who have experienced the trauma of sexual abuse or assault.
