Knowing and Applying God's Truth to Real Life
Matthew 5:6 (NKJV)
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled.
What truth is revealed? People who have a “spiritual hunger” are never disappointed when they reach out to God. James states it clearly in James 4:8, “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. God will fill to overflowing those that reach out to Him.
What is the command, wisdom or promise? This word is a promise for those who want a closer relationship with God. Firstly, those who are motivated by spiritual desire are blessed; and they are blessed, because God responds to those who reach out to Him. Matthew 7:7 "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.”
What does this mean to/for me? I need to examine my spiritual tank. Have I stagnated? Have I stopped growing? Have I stopped seeking? Have I wandered away from my first love? If that is the case, I need to fan the flames of my passion for God. I need to run back to my first love.
What action can/should I take? Very often, the answer to my spiritual need is found in my prayer closet. Some would call prayer a “spiritual discipline,” but I consider it my spiritual bridge to God. My times of prayer present opportunity for me to seek God, and even more importantly, prayer presents a wonderful opportunity for me to be “filled” with the presence of the Almighty.
As revealed by God through the Life and Message of Christ; through the wisdom of Solomon; through the letters of the Apostles; through the inspiration of God.
