Belt of Truth
Knowing and Applying God's Truth to Real Life
Matthew 6:9-13 (NKJV)
In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
What truth is revealed? Jesus instructs us to pray for the Father’s Kingdom to come and for the Father’s will to be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Think about the implication. That the earth would become a place that is more like heaven. A place of peace, a place that lacks in suffering, sickness, hunger, violence and death. The earth is not such a place, but the day will come when Jesus comes to rule.
What is the command, wisdom or promise? When we pray this prophetic prayer, we are aligning ourselves with God’s ultimate plan. In the meantime, we are walking demonstrations of God’s Kingdom. According to the Apostle Paul, we are temples, places of worship where the Spirit of God dwells…just as in heaven.
What does this mean to/for me? I need to live this prayer. Let me explain: I need God’s Kingdom to be firmly established in me, and I need to be at work establishing His rule in my sphere of influence.
What action can/should I take? In a practical sense I need to walk as Jesus walked. I need to submit myself to God and serve His purposes. To love as God loves; to be a peace-maker; to minister to those in need; to bring the hope of the Gospel; to help break the chains of those in bondage to sin.
As revealed by God through the Life and Message of Christ; through the wisdom of Solomon; through the letters of the Apostles; through the inspiration of God.
