Belt of Truth
Knowing and Applying God's Truth to Real Life
Matthew 6:19-21 (NKJV)
"Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
What truth is revealed? The truth is pretty simply and obvious, you invest your time, your effort and your resources on the things or relationships that you treasure.
What is the command, wisdom or promise? This is a world of wisdom. Invest yourself and all that defines you in a Kingdom that is eternal. When we die, what do we take with us? Certainly not all the toys that we have purchased or money that we have saved. We need to develop a more “eternal” perspective.
What does this mean to/for me? It means that the “new” vehicle that I purchased cannot be my treasure, rather, it is a resource that I am the steward of, and “it” is to be used in a way that glorifies God. It means that my relationship with God is the true treasure and that my pursuit of God must be the top priority of my life.
What action can/should I take? It means that the Lord must be my first love and that I should pursue this relationship with all my heart, mind, soul and strength! This must remain the top priority of every day.
As revealed by God through the Life and Message of Christ; through the wisdom of Solomon; through the letters of the Apostles; through the inspiration of God.
