Who We Are
Our Mission:
Believers Church is a Bible-centric Church, which means that we get our marching orders from the Bible, starting with the teaching of Jesus. At the core of our mission is the "Jesus-command" to make disciples. Matthew 28:18-20 (NKJV) And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen.
We want to avoid the common mistake of viewing disciple-making as an activity primarily aimed at adults. In truth, most Christians come to faith before they ever reach adulthood; Therefore, we make the discipleship of children and teens a high priority. Our children need to know what they believe and why they believe long before we send them off to be educated at a University. They need to be fully devoted followers of Christ before they leave home and take on the world. So, what does a fully devoted follower of Christ look like? "In the midst of a teaching in the book of I Corinthians, the Apostle Paul made the following statement: "Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God." 1 Cor 10:31 (NKJV) I think that it is safe to suggest that "whatever you do" covers every thing that you do; therefore, as individual Believers and as a corporate body our main purpose for existing is to bring God glory through our everyday actions." |
Our Commitment:
If you ask secular people about their view of the church, we are often defined by words such as narrow-minded, judgmental, hateful, homophobic, out-of-touch, etc. It is not flattering! So, what should the Church of Jesus Christ look like? If God is defined as "love," that is the same trait that should define His work on this earth. We should be first and foremost be defined by love. We should be known for loving God, loving our neighbors, and for loving one another! This should be the overwhelming sign that people see when they look at us. Love is the greatest weapon in our arsenal of spiritual weapons and it is our authentic expression of being fully devoted followers of Christ. At Believers Church we want to be a corporate expression of God's great love. It does not mean that we water down the truth of God's Word. "No!" We teach the truth in love. We are not angry with secular people outside of the church, we are striving to reach them with the Gospel Truth that sets people free. This is who we are...this is who we have been called to be. "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another."
